Anhalt-An Old Poem

by Ann Neilson

Blistering sunsets of desire
illuminate dark horizons,
gold flakes and gamboge splashes
portraying an arrogant display.

Luscious grassy hills roll
and swell, like hands upon a
lover’s figure, deep winds
chuckling at the thought.

A blushing flower blooms from
beneath its passionate gaze,
love pouring through the soil,
rich, deep and providing.

The flower, though seemingly alone,
is enraptured by the warmth of its
grassy bed, the silky sheets of
lustful skies providing it a home to reside
in the comforting embrace of Anhalt.
